Randarts and light sources--mapping?

Since one of the new iterations of vanilla, no artifacty light source I have gotten in any of my randart games has had any sort of mapping ability. Weren't these abilities included with randart light sources previously, or am I going senile. If this was changed, was there a reason why? Because I am finding it a serious detriment. My last x number of games, including my last 2 wins, all had to do it without any artifacty mapping ability, which I found irritating.

It is one of many changes I find irritating, too. I have gone back to playing an older version because of this and other reasons.

Any randart Star should have mapping. If not, that's a bug.

NONE of them do. In fact, I am not sure any randart object has had mapping. I've played multiple games through to a win without finding any artifact with mapping, but the lack of light sources with mapping has been the most irritating.

Well, I involuntarily ended my most recent game, or I should say Osse and a teleport other fail ended the game for my 50cl half-troll warrior at around level 76 or so. But before he died, he had found every artifact star/phial/whatever and once again, NONE of them had ANY mapping ability.

I find this to be seriously irritating and I wish this bug could be fixed ASAP.

I just finished a game and had the same problem. The Star did not have mapping, nor any of the other randart lights I found.

The workaround is the same as for the last annoying randart bug: just play with standard artifacts until it's fixed.

  1. I didn't want to go back and add to the web of hacks resulting from ensuring 3.5 randart behaviour in 4.0 code
  2. I was trying to avoid the onslaught of "not found" jokes resulting from releasing a version 4.0.4

but clearly I'm going to fail on both counts.

Just say it's a 4.0.3.1 version
