Help with status display?

My laptop failed its save vs heat and I'm forced back to an old 2004 Mac running OS X 10.6.8, and the newest version of Angband that runs on this thing is 4.0.5. (In fact, Angband and other roguelikes are about the only games it will run lol)

(The version I last installed on this thing was 3.0.1, it's that old.)

Started a kobold ranger but noticing that there is no "Fed" status on the bottom row of the main window, nor anything but the level feeling.

Am i missing a setting somewhere... I can't seem to find one.

(And if this is in the wrong forum, please forgive me and please direct me to the proper place.)
