how to .. remove the screen flashing?

so, when i cast spells, the screen briefly flashes. i don't exactly know how to explain this, maybe it's the refresh of the image, maybe the animations are a bit choppy, but when i cast many spells in a row (such as a lot of magic missiles to kill a mob) there is a very noticeable screen flash .. which tires my eyes, a lot.
this has happened in other versions as well and on other PCs, and im on a 8Gb W10 / 4ghz haswell / 590 8Gb / 144hz monitor, so i'm gonna say it's not the hardware.
is there *any* way to limit, reduce, remove the screen flash ? anyone else know what i'm talking about ?

No, I don't know what you are talking about. Which front-end are you using? The Windows one, I presume? Have you tried changing the 'base delay factor' in the options to see if that is the cause? Could you make a quick video that shows this flash?

as you can see, it's as if there is a layer on top of the screen that flashes whenever i cast a spell - or any other action for the matter, but with spells it is much more noticeable.

Ok I see now, thanks for the video. I agree that it is annoying. It does not seem related to the base delay.

I have a vague memory of this being a problem, possibly related to too much screen redrawing. Perhaps it's playing with tiles and having a lot of visual effects going on? I'm not sure what you can do to fix it - apart from playing with no graphics. Maybe someone else remembers more detail? Ingwe?

Are you using keymaps? Perhaps is the menu display the cause of the flashing, combined with the tile mode.

i am in fact using keymaps. it's unthinkable to play a mage and *not* use keymaps.
