[Q] (simple) help needed with edit file

I'm playing Entroband in Vanilla Town mode. In the r_info.txt, farmer maggot's dogs were originally commented out, so I commented them back in. Also, I tried to move Farmer Maggot and Lion Heart from the town to the dungeon (W:5:3). Now I've played a good 30-40 games with my current incarnation of Entroband and I have yet to see any of these monsters a single time in the dungeon, so I'm thinking I've done something wrong. I'm really confused --- can anyone help?

(I am editing the correct file, I believe --- if I deliberately introduce an error, the game won't load until I fix it.)

I'm no expert, but if they were commented out in the edit file, they were probably removed from the source code too.

Monsters aren't written into the source code (with the possible exception of Sauron and Morgoth). You should be able to add new monsters just by modifying the edit file. The edit file should also tell you if it encounters a malformed entry, for that matter. You might try making a wizard character, going to their native depth, and chain-summoning monsters to see if you can force them to generate.

Or better yet, summon them by their ID number (I believe Heng/Entro has that wizard option available).
You may need to go into the cheat options menu to enable access to Wizard mode. If you get the "Wizard Mode is not permitted" messages when you try to access it you will need to do that. I don't remember if it's just a birth option or if you can change it on the fly, though.
[EDIT] You could also reduce their rarity (second number on the W line) to 1 to make them more likely to spawn (just for verification).

Try removing the .raw files from the /data directory. The game should be recompiling the raw files when the edit files are changed, but if you remove them it will definitely have to recompile.
