What Platform(s) do you play Angband on?
So I'm in the middle of writing some code that probably needs at least two different implementations (POSIX and Windows), and maybe many more. After seeing the fiftieth "#ifdef RISCOS" line, I was wondering if we actually *have* players on RISC OS these days.
So... please comment with your platform, especially if it hasn't been mentioned yet (SunOS users? Amiga users? DOS users? RISC OS users? VMS users???). I will start things off: I play Angband on Linux (Debian, Gentoo, Ubuntu), NetBSD and OS X. |

So - my first post here
![]() Also i prefer Angband Variants (Zangband, EyAngband etc) i usually play Angband on Linux (Archlinux in my case, Ubuntu/Debian rarely). Sometimes - if i have to - on Windows. Since older Macs used to be PowerPC i think you should try to keep the RISCOS definition. And also i have some AIX systems in my company i doubt that i will ever play Angband on them ![]() |

It might be worth posting the question on rgra too - I seem to recall one or two RISC players / developers on there For what it's worth, I use Windows XP for the time being...

Linux (Ubuntu) for the most part; occasionally Windows, or Nintendo DS. But soon to be OS X

I think for RISC OS, there was a last mohycan standing on the newsgroup, Harriet Bazley, see http://angband.oook.cz/rgra.php?showpost=65791 for example. Might be that these days, zero, but poll the newsgroup.
/me is playing on FreeBSD (haven't been mentioned yet).

Welcome!
Unfortunately I think the RISCOS code does not support all RISC processors, but instead the RISC operating system created by Acorn Computers. |

There comes a time in all development projects where legacy support must be cut, and you must make your users move on. For example, in the development of DirectX 10, Microsoft finally decided to slash off all the old DX8 and back support (if I recall correctly, I'm probably wrong) to streamline the system and accelerate the runtime.
This may not reflect the situation quite right but I think it's reasonably safe to say that support for RISC is rather... unnecessary. Most Angband players probably play on: UNIX, Mac or Windows (which covers at least 90% of all existing OSs). Anyway I play on Windows. Yay for conforming. |
