Birth amount of gold

Have started many games as ironman priest now but always fail before finding pb3. Also failed a number of attempts based on pb1 and pb3 but no weapon as starting gear. Hard to survive even the first five levels.

Wasn't it possible before to get more starting gold providing that you spent less of the available 24 points on STR/INT/WIS... ? Would certainly be willing to start with somewhat worse stats to enable start with pb1,2,3; a mace plus some food and torches.

If you start with no sell option you begin the game with 600 gold, I think that's enough to buy the first 3 books.

This is in 3.2 not sure about the new version, now that I look at it that's not enough gold. Still with no sell on gold drops are a lot bigger so you could buy a whip, and kill a few townsfolk to get the rest fairly easily.
