Treasure detection for dwarves
I think it would be kind of neat if dwarves got an detect treasure ability, like the spell. Dwarves are by birthright great miners, and it kind of makes since for them to have thee ability to detect were treasure or mineral veins are. It might be a little more handy for them to be able to detect mineral seams as in a detection type spell sort of way.

It would add flavor to the game, and wouldn't upset balance. At early levels, with such a small detection area, it would be irrelevant, and by the time one begins to detect wide-ranging treasures, gold is usually not needed. |

Then it would be just useless.
Well, it would be useless anyways. It doesn't pay to dig out this stuff...

I kinda like it, even if it is useless. It'd be neat if they could detect buried treasure.

Imagine how nifty it would be, if you had item forging like in Sangband, and digging mineral veins gave you a chance of finding a forging item, like a chunk of bronze, silver, gold or mithral. That would make digging for treasure a good reason to go mining.

Now that really would be useful. Vaults, anti-summoning corridors, cut a quick hole in the wall so you only have to face one enemy at a time... Maybe *too* useful. Though I suppose you could balance it out, give them, say, the intrinsic tunneling power of a pick or shovel.

Sure they should be able to tunnel better. If nothing else they don't need as big a hole to fit through.

I think that's a great idea, it offsets the terrible magic abilities of a dwarven warrior and gives them an ability to tunnel where others classes can simply cast stone to mud.
