quick question
I dropped down to 1100 feet and cast detect monsters and I examined a novice rogue on the far side of the screen who was badly wounded, does monsters generate as hurt now?

Are you sure you didn't hurt the rogue, then he stole from you and vanished, and now you're seeing him across the screen? That seems the most likely to me.

No I had just went down a level and cast light in the room I was in then detect monsters, to see what was around me on the level. The room I started on was the first on that level. When I went to where the rogue was he had regenerated to just (wounded) status.
