Z+Angband 0.3.2 stable release

The 0.3.2 regular release version of Z+Angband is now available from the website. I still consider this a beta release.

Since 0.3.1 the two big changes are the addition of "heroes" (random unique monsters) and the new quest generation method, which bases the difficulty level of quests on the area of the wilderness it is situated in.

Since the prerelease there have been a number of bug fixes and a few minor features. Most recently, flags have been added to mark object kinds as {worthless} or {cursed?} (e.g., an unidentified ring shows up as {cursed?} if you have observed it to be cursed but have never identified it, and don't know for sure that it is cursed; an unidentified wand shows up as {worthless} if you turn it into gold and get fool's gold). Use of dimension door now indicates the range of the space you are selecting.

The DVG graphics have also been updated.

Just to be clear, this is a slightly different game than the most recently released live update of 0.3.2pre1.

Crash to desktop

Something odd has happened im getting a CTD when i try to load my old (0.3.2pre1 (beta) savefiles. I believe its the 800 messages bug. I downloaded a new zang (0.3.2pre1 (beta) but still no luck. Downloaded the newest version 3.2 which didnt work either, am also having a new problem, i CTD on character creation as well now. Any advice?

"CTD" = ?

The "too many objects (800)" should not stop the game from loading or converting properly. It's an expected side effect of the change that was made.

CTD= crash to desktop

i hit lvl 33 highest i have ever gotten...playing cautiously ... avoiding dangerous encounters.... system freezes (win xp) .. i restart Try to load zang but it just crashes.... all of my old saved games .... i cant acces the high scores either .... everything crashes to desktop.... so i search the forums for possible answers.... one solution i read was re download zang and try again ... i do this and im still getting the same problems. none of my old saved games work... or after i create a character and am about to load into the game it crashes as well..... its very odd.... i think the reason my system may have frozen initially was that it auto updated mozilla firefox to 3.01... but other then that i cant see any reason why it would be crashing on start up now

Ok, I suspect there's something wrong with your system rather than wrong with the game. But just in case, can you send me one of the savefiles that doesn't work?

And, does 0.3.1 still work?

My address can be deduced from the website, but never mind: this obviously is specific to your system, not a bug in the game; I use XP and don't have any problems. This sounds like an out of memory issue: have you restarted your system? Other than that I'm afraid I can't offer any advice. I suspect you'll find other applications behaving badly too if you look around.

i havent had any other problems running any programs, except Z+angband. Regular Zangband plays and runs fine on my system. The problems are exclusive to Z+angband it seems. Its too bad because i was really enjoying the game, very nice work u have done with it to be sure. Thanks for your help
