lvl 50 gnome warrior, what's next?
dump
This was my easiest run to clvl 50, but I have no clue what to do when it comes to the final fight. I can only think of better RoS to improve my current kit (finding Ringil, Feanor, and Bladeturner is out of question). Umbar and Haradrim make very good combination for ranged attack (note that I'm playing trunk build with additive multipliers and it's not as insanely powerful as it used to be), and I can probably take on Sauron right now. But there is no way I can beat Morgoth even with +20 speed unhasted. First and foremost, I think I need more healing. I've collected every !Healing, !*Healing*, and !*Life* I've seen in the game, but that's it. This can be enough for a ranger or a mage, but not for a warrior planning to use melee. I'm planning to fire as much seeker bolts with Umbar as possible (slay evil doesn't make a lot of difference now), but still. So, am I missing some essential warrior-vs-M strategy or I just need to scum for consumables? |

Shoot phase CCW in destruction field. With 2 shoots/round and some luck you will not be double moved. +20 base speed is still nice to be safe.

Yeah a big stack of CCW works almost as good as healing potions. Either phase in destruct area as said, or even just tele M away when you need to.
Healing within LoS is a bad idea, it eats your healing consumables real fast as it tends to be a +-0 situation, so avoid that. But yeah you definitely need more speed before worrying about M anyways. =) |

Morgoth is a lot easier in melee than you seem to think.
Eorlingas+Holcolleth = 21 speed. Add the imba shield for more than enough damage and Cambeleg to counter the lost constitution. You have enough healing (get ccw) so you could finish the game with what you have right now. Kill Sauron, and hope that he summons Ancalagon so you can get rid of him as well. Vecna is another intresting target to get rid of. Killing those also has a good chance of producing a bigger speedring, which would allow you to carry even more potions without falling below 20 speed edit: Quote:

Well, I've beaten Morgoth with a priest with damage output comparable to a warrior with Eorlingas and Haradrim, and it required quite a bit of !RMana. And each !RMana translates to a dozen of big healing spells.

That's because you stood in melee while you healed. Every turn you stand in melee is a chance for Morgoth to do ~150 damage to you (seems like that's about average what he did to my last melee winner). If you phase away and then heal, you'll need considerably fewer healing potions.

AMHD dropped RoS +14 and I've found Cubragol, so the speed problem is mostly solved. Slowly collecting !CCW from the Temple. Buyouts are simpler, but boring, and I still hope to find something in the dungeon. Something legendary :-)

Can't resist to post it:
Code:
a Blade of Chaos (Holy Avenger) (6d5) (+22,+23) [+2] (+2) {!d!k}
+2 wisdom.
Slays evil creatures, undead, demons.
Provides resistance to fear, chaos.
Sustains dexterity.
Blessed by the gods. Grants the ability to see invisible things.
Combat info:
6 blows/round.
Average damage/hit: 134.6 vs. evil creatures, 155.5 vs. undead,
155.5 vs. demons, and 92.8 vs. others.

Ringil can't beat it, but a MoD (+2 attacks) can.
That is one hell of a weapon. |

A Mace of Disruption of Slay Evil should be able to beat it, if you're strong enough to get all six blows with it. That's just the 5d8 vs. 6d5 talking, though; a difference of 9 average damage/blow when fighting evil creatures.
Still, very nice. Go win already! |
