Apparent Bug (possibly with recall)

Okay, so I made it to level 99, found some loot, and recalled to rearrange gear. When I came back down, sauron came straight at me, started to fight, and then teleported himself away.

That's when I noticed a set of down stairs, on or very near to the spot I had recalled to. Since those shouldn't have existed, I tried them. They took me down to Level 100, with Morgoth coming towards me. Sauron isn't dead, I checked the monster list.

I think that I may have recalled onto a down staircase. That has actually happened to me a lot this game, it made me wonder a bit, but not too much. Now I am thinking that it may be a bug, where the game is sometimes generating a down staircase on recall? I just tried recalling up, and then coming back down to level 100, and that did not generate a staircase.

Running a nightly from Aug 9th, not sure of the rev. Any thoughts? I copied off my save file right after I took the down staircase, didn't think to do it before.

And my second or third time down on 100, sauron is on the level. Morgoth is also here, but too far away to come at me. So I kill Sauron, I was already prepared for that before I found the early stairs, and a magical staircase appeared. Taking that down, and I am now on level 101. There are down staircases in various places around the level. And Morgoth is definitely not here...
