Squelch in Vanilla Angband 3.3.x
I've returned to Angband after a long hiatus, Ben Harrison was maintainer when I last played, and squelch wasn't something I was aware of.
Now, on OS X Snow Leopard, I'm finding that if I squelch something, then quit and reopen the save file, the squelched item reappears. This happens for me in 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and 3.3.4dev. Is this expected behaviour for squelch? Thanks |

Aren't squelch settings saved in the options now? If that's the case, you need to save the options with the "=" menu or they will be lost once you leave the game.

No, you shouldn't have to go to the options screen to save squelch settings that you made without using the options screen. This does sound like a bug to me.

It is a bug, but it's not with options. Squelched items are now toggled with K (shift-k), and the unfortunately cumbersome word "unignoring" appears on the status line. This means that squelched items are visible - when it's absent, they're not. The bug is that this shift-k status is not saved in the savefile, so squelched items are always visible on loading, until you press shift-k.
I thought this bug had been fixed in 3.4-dev - will check that. OK, checked: the bug is still extant in both 3.4-dev and v4. Which is weird, because I'm certain someone fixed it - it must have not been merged. Opened as #1633.
