Sure, it's pretty much the weakest standard artifact in the game, but it's a pretty nice find for dL1. I just implemented tracking the origin of items. It says it was found it a vault, but it was an empty vault which have a chance of having a few of the out of depth monsters and items from the original vault design. There was also a monster which was about 13 levels out of depth which I was able to escape from (I think it was the 1st time I used spikes to jam a door for a useful effect).
Real vaults never appear before dL5, but I guess probably even empty vaults shouldn't appear on dL1.
