The major issue so far is Word of Recall. With stair disappearance, I quickly burn thru scrolls, and they are pricey. How do you usually handle this?

Another 15 minutes has brought 2 !Chr, 2 !Int, 1 !Con, Cambeleg, Colannon, and Taratol. I can't kill anything, though! Well, I managed a young green dragon but it was close. Haha, you're doing pretty darn well there :)

Cloning Pits was only possible because I had found a checker vault in Dragon Caves, and of course I had to go at it---the x5 Light crossbow that was not too many spaces in turned out to be Brand, and that coupled with the Beaked Axe (Death) I was wielding at the time was sufficient for the Pits.

Gotta love Axemasters for the pure damage output!

Ninjas...now NINJAs have an extra special sequence, mainly because of their Iron Spike skills. Ninjas use this sequence:

Thieves' Quest --> Dragon Caves

Believe me, those spikes sure can put the hurt on young dragons, and even mature ones after a while. That'll level you up real quick. As to scrolls of WoR, that's the thing...just gotta buy a bunch. I usually go with a stack of ten, and bless the day you find a rod of recall. Of course, you can go to the Labyrinth to pick that one up, but that takes too much time :D

Managed Smaug, Scatha and even a Hell Wyrm, thanks to The Rapier of the Duelist. Ordinarily, vampirism is meaningless for a ninja, but Sacred Vitality helps out quite a bit. Still, that Hell Wyrm battle took almost 100 rounds, so I'm not quite so formidable :(

I'm not going to rush for the Cloning Pits just yet. Things are starting to pick up quite nicely in the lair at the moment!

Potion Chugger might be interesting, but I decided to drop this from my short list. I'm not sure about weapon mastery, but ninjas are stuck at skilled on most of the end game weapons (rapiers) and an extra +18 to hit might turn out to be quite useful. An end game dual wielding ninja might be stuck with only 40% melee accuracy, so this might be the way to go. Of course, if Ambidextrous was still an option there wouldn't even be a choice :) Any thoughts?

I could try ?Art on a ninjato and not dual wield. What are the odds I pick up extra dice and extra attacks?

So, L98 is pretty darn hard. I keep getting double moved by The Destroyer (Disintegrate + Mana Bolt). I can survive this, but barely.

A good weapon is probably the most important though...and probably one with good damage dice for a ninja. Hard to say what the ideal would be, but a good two-handed Ninja-to might be nice. Gonna have to try that some time myself perhaps.

Well, its done. I went with Weapon Versatility after all. At first, this is just +8 to hit, but I'm slowly building skills with my two weapons. Rapiers and Falcon Swords are both stuck at skilled normally, so being able to master should net another +10 to hit. With !Heroism and ?HolyChant, I should be quite formidable! And while Demonic Grasp would have been a convenient choice, ninjas can gather quite sufficient supplies given enough patience.

I've managed some pretty big kills, including Kaschei, but the elite guardians of Angband still scare me. I really am just holding out for some of the good ninja weapons, but, in the mean time, I have been staggered by the utility of The Duelist. Of course, you want this tasty item in your lead hand so that criticals (striking out of the shadows, for example) augment the vampirism. And of course, Sacred Vitality helps too, so I usually regain close to 100hp per round! Really, this helps me conserve my healing goodies, especially those CCW potions that only heal 60 or so.

Seriously, that happens to almost 90% of my characters, and I can't remember the last time I scored the Justice artifact. I don't mind challenges in the game, but dumb luck you just fail mechanics are highly annoying.

A very easy win, and my only mistake (a big one!) was not to bring ?Teleport for the Anti-magic. This only came up once, but fortunately, not in combo with Dispel Magic, so I could back away and use my super stealth to recover. Actually, I'm having trouble remembering the last time I had such an easy win!
