My first character ever to reach the throne room, Kurufin's specialty was charging/knock back with the mattock. Unfortunately, having used up the last of his quickness and elemental resistance potions taking out Gothmog, he proved vulnerable to the poison of the Unrelenting Horror and its ridiculously high health.

As have I. Unrelenting Horrors are nasty, and are meant to be basically unkillable (the same goes for Nameless Things and Morgoth). Obviously all of them *can* be killed with enough preparation and care.

The character was actually capable of taking out Nameless Things, and probably wouldn't have minded the Unrelenting Horror that much were it not for the poison attack.

Silly question: does the ability 'Poison Resistance' stack with poison resistance from armour/rings etc?

Yes and no.

Resistances (including this one) stack against breath weapons, but not against branded melee attacks, where they just prevent an extra die of damage. Unifying the two different systems is somewhere on a list of things we'd like to do in the future (but not that near the top).
