Finished Mirkwood, thinking about heading for Lake Town - but I'd like to find a source of permanent fire resistance first. Quite a lot of artifacts, but no random ones yet.

Currently in Minas Tirith, after making it through Moria - most of Galadriel's gifts weren't up to much, but the armor more than made up for the rest. I just had a battle with Denethor which was more or less a draw - it's very difficult to get the teleporting uniques to actually fight you in a dungeon setting.

Looks like I'll be in Minas Tirith / Paths of the Dead for a while, since I have concluded that Denethor is basically unkillable for me right now unless I can get more speed. I have a few nice weapons which I swap in and out in various situations. Relying heavily on *dispel evil* for the undead. Some rings of speed would be nice.

Things are looking up thanks to those nice rings of speed I found. However, I can't seem to find a way through Paths of the Dead despite having killed the guardian. Please tell me I don't have to go and spend hours teleporting around after Denethor again...

Finished! After campaign locations like Udun, Angband hardly seemed like much of a challenge, even at level 99. Morgoth went down fairly easily to Armour of God and *dispel evil* - it felt a bit cheap, but I didn't want to take chances for my first win. It was interesting to see that he can't tunnel in this variant. This led to some interesting effects - at one point he sealed himself in a little room with his earthquake attack and couldn't get out. I had to cast earthquake myself to let him out again...

It was a lot of fun to play the campaign mode and see all the different locations. I didn't spend long in some of the later ones because (a) they're dangerous and (b) I was getting tired of not having home storage.

On the whole I'd say it's a little easier than Vanilla thanks to things like some of the variant options, lower breath damages etc. even though there are a few things that are trickier (it's difficult to control summons, for example). The campaign mode definitely adds an extra challenge though - it's a bit like a somewhat easier version of ironman play.

Fun character - I may try another one at some stage.
