First time unangband. Looks great. Didn't understand that I could heal the disease I had with Elven waybread so now I'm at speed -6 and backtracing the dungeon upwards to find a cure in the village. A ?Recall would have been more than great. Several tough fights when mobbed and at such low speed.

What did you use to kill that blinky dude in maggots's cellar??

Oh i guess you haven't yet, derp

I admit I installed unangband, but I am mystified with the interface and everything. Is there a way to play as pacifist, spellcaster and item user in unangband or is this an inherently violent game? :D

The boss in Maggot's dungeon is still impossible to kill. Looking for better damage output. Also confused why I'm at speed -2 again.

On 7.12.2013 11:08 Thraalbeast wrote:
Finally when I'm able to slay the first boss, instead of dying he gets Unangband stuck in an eternal loop! He was down to one star, fleeing but I was faster and hit again, and then it just froze. Frustrating!

On 7.12.2013 11:16 Thraalbeast wrote:
Fortunately the game loaded up properly after I killed the window. A bit tedious start when aming to complete the first dungeon, took quite a few turns to get able enough to kill the boss. Never found a super weapon, but good buffs and melee was enough to kill the bugger in the end.

Searched Tom Bombadil's cellar. Nothing of interest. Is that it or did I miss something?

On 7.12.2013 13:08 HallucinationMushroom wrote:
I've never seen anything there either. It seems like there ought to be something there. I've had characters who've fought Tom, and characters where Tom helped out... but nothing in his cellar that I'm aware of. Make sure you check out Goldberry's pool if the game will let you.

If you are raising your size you can start getting slower if your agility doesn't keep up. They are at loggerheads, or some such.

Nice! PS I msged pav, we should have the comp ladder sorted out eventually :)

Also yes, I think you lose 1 speed for every 2 points that size rises above agility.

What are you primarily using to kill stuff? Wands? Melee? Spells? Have you tried doing anything with traps?

On 11.12.2013 00:18 Thraalbeast wrote:
Wands are great but uncommon. 97% melee, 2% bow, 1% wand perhaps. Also spellbooks taking 1+1 slots is annoying so I just use detection spells. Didn't know that in the start and now I've got one inv space less entire game without benefit.

On 11.12.2013 00:20 Thraalbeast wrote:
But i rely on buffs, speed especially but berserk and the others too, or bosses are too tough

On 12.12.2013 07:24 Roch wrote:
Yes, what's up with the 1+1 books taking up 2 slots each? Doesn't give me much hope of ever using deeper spell books.

Fighting my way upwards in Isengard. A bit short on healing but otherwise ok.

On 13.12.2013 18:11 Thraalbeast wrote:
Theoden down. I've started to missile attacks more. Even though I'm not interested in using gunpowder and does not have a good shooter, it's still better than melee.

I really like this variant, especially the distributed "dungeon", but it is a bit tedious at times, not being able to find healing easily but still being jumped by a huge amount of foes on each new floor. And... the crashes are annoying. Had to defeat Theoden twice due to program instability.

Black Rider in Bree down. Still no offensive spells.
