Took a short trip to the Labyrinth and then proceeded to complete several town quests back-to-back, including the Mimic quest and Dark elven lords, all within the first hour. My damage is not too spectacular. I'll have to find a Deep one ASAP to help me move on. Found some useful stuff.

Upgraded from version 3.1.1 to 3.1.4 directly. Taking a short break from playing Rings. When I continued on with Hugo$oul 934, I felt like I nearly forgot how to play melee characters. But, within a matter of time, I got my melee groove back.

3 hour mark:
Currently at clvl 28 possessing Sir Lancelot doing 226 Normal damage with Excalibur Jr. with AC 93 and +6 Base Speed. There's one good thing about Excalibur Jr.: It's probably my best weapon right now. It's not as useless as I thought - It has Slay Animals, Undead, and Dragons.

Went ahead and finished up the Camelot. I had a close call with Red Helm who hit so hard that I got kicked out of the Deep one's body. Luckily, the body DID NOT vaporize. I re-possessed the intact Deep one and teleported away. I slowly approached the area with Red Helm and proceeded to finish him! I took out most of the Camelot Knights with some difficulty. I was fighting these punks before I retrieved any source of Resist Confusion. Staying hasted and recovering HP promptly was just what I needed to stay alive and keep the upper hand against these guys. When I killed the big named Camelot knights, I possessed Sir Lancelot's body right away. In my opinion, Sir Lancelot is my favorite of all Camelot Knights because of the retaliation aura. He lasts until clvl 35. So, I have some time left.

Looking at my equipement, I'm missing Poison resistance. Definitely need to get this covered asap. Also, no Shelob without getting Darkness resistance first.

With the Camelot done, I'll embark on a journey to other dungeons. Probably will go for Orc cave and Icky cave next. I better remember to check out the Angband quests too.

Upgraded from 3.1.4 to 3.1.5. With Compo 155 coming to an end and time running out, I decided to move on with Hugo$oul 934.

5 hour mark mark:
Currently at clvl 33 possessing Sir Lancelot doing 295 Normal damage with 'Sting' with AC 150 and +11 Base Speed.

I completed the 'Sting' quest. Found The Cloak of Jack of Shadows on the ground during the quest! The quest itself wasn't bad, except for Loge and the Queen Ant. I happened to start it with 3x Fire resistance, just enough to take hits from this Loge dude. And the Queen Ant...ugh...ants-after-ants. I moved fast enough to get the upper hand. The rest of the monsters were cake-walk Once I picked up Sting, I found out it had Chaos resistance...nice!

After the Sting quest, I proceeded to the Anti-magic cave for leveling up. Along the way, I stumbled into a Mature red dragon near the southern part of the Zul mountains. Lo and behold, it dropped a Ring of Speed (+6) and this was before I hit clvl 30, if I remember correctly. In the Anti-magic cave, I found some of artifacts...Hammerhand, Arvedui, Stomper, 'Elite' randart. I had a close call with a group of Doom drakes (like 10-15) of them at Anti-magic cave 41...luckily I had Fire resistance x3 or even x4 if needed. After a while, I decided to check out the Giant's Hall in hopes of getting a Rock giant, especially now that I'm at clvl 33..and Sir Lancelot has until clvl 35 to gain EXP.

In the meantime, I purchased some goods from the Black Market:
1) an Amulet of Trickery (+1) {SlSr;PoDk, Telmora '7'}
2) a Set of Dragon Gloves [4,+10] {PoLi, Angwil '7'}

I did a short stint at the Dragon's lair, which was close to going horribly wrong. I nearly got killed by an unresisted-Nether ball casted by Khamul the Easterling...which dropped my HP to red double digits. I didn't realize Khamul was known for casting Nether balls. I wasn't wearing the Holy Grail at the time. Soon enough, there were dragons waking up left-and-right. Luckily, the noise wasn't enough to wake up Glaurung or this Ethereal dragon. I really wanted to stick around because the level was a 'special' one. In plain sight, I saw this un-IDed Incandescent Light and nearby un-IDed Set of Leather Gloves. I tried using ?Teleportation and ?Teleport Level and come back. But, at that time, I was stuck between forgoing Poison Resistance in favor of Nether resistance and vice-versa. It wasn't worth the risk. I recalled out.

Note to all - Be prepared to go into the Dragon's lair with both Poison AND Nether resistance if you want to survive!

Finished up the Giant's Hall. Switched to a Rock giant at Giant's Hall 40 and used him against the Utgard-Loke and DAMN, Utgard-Loke was surprisingly tough. I nearly got killed by this dude. One time, I got struck by a Heavy stun by this dude and his Greater titan buddies. At another point, my HP was hitting RED triple digits. At the same time, Shuten-Douji made an unwanted visit. I used up a lot of consumables...!Speed, !Curing, !CCW, ?Teleportation, ?Protection from Evil, !Berserk Strength, you name it. In the end, I finally KO'ed the dude, and he dropped a corpse.

After that Giant's Hall run, I checked out the Arena (west of Zul). Stumbled into a Elder fire giant and this dude is rough. Although I killed the punk, I think I'm holding off more Arena visits until I get better melee damage and better resistances.

Currently at clvl 35 controlling a Rock giant doing 361 SHATTER damage with AC 167 and +7 Base Speed.

I took Utgard-Loke for a spin. His melee seems stronger than the Rock giant but his AC is *a lot* lower than the Rock giant. Upon switching to Utgard-Loke, my AC (shortly after the 6 hour mark, at clvl 34) dropped from 176 to 138!! I used him to take out a handful of monsters at Arena 50. After reaching clvl 35, I checked out Telmora's Arena. Iron lich down, ok. But, Greater titan battle went horribly bad with me GETTING KICKED OUT OF BODY in the middle of the Town Arena, PLUS my Tetsu-geta of Flame and Set of Dragon Gloves with Poison/Light resistance got dropped to the ground with overflow. I didn't see the -body decay- message so I *THOUGHT* Utgard-Loke's body was intact. Tried to re-possess but COULD NOT because that SCHMUCK Greater titan hit-to-confuse-my-poor-soul despite one layer of Confusion Resistance and then he finished me off forcing me to lose the two pieces of equipment and Utgard-Loke's body in Telmora's Arena....Ugh!!

Oh yeah, get this: Don't fight Greater titans unless you have at least 2x Confusion resistance.

That said, I'm still alive and I'm back to the Rock giant again.

Time to pick off more monsters in the Arena dungeon (west of Zul).

I pretty much stayed in the Arena dungeon for leveling up from clvl 35 to clvl 41. Took me a while to get a Hru, the stronger version of the Rock giant. But, once Ulik dropped this body, I switched to Ulik right away. And I'm already seeing the difference. Ulik is strong as hell and can wipe out handful of monsters in 3-5 moves. While Ulik's damage is decent, his ability to use magical devices is not good...I can't even use my Staff of Speed or Staff of Healing due to failure rates in the 90s. The inability to use these staves is Ulik's biggest setback. Maybe this might change when I complete some dungeons and put stat gains onto INT?

Making some progress here. Cleared out several dungeons at once: Chameleon cave, Forest, Icky cave, and Lonely Mountain for stat gains in INT....That didn't help my failure rates at all for my Staff of Speed and Stafff of Healing...stupid failure rates were still in the high 90s...ridiculous! I worked on the Mountain dungeon afterwards, but lost patience. I went ahead to try out fights at deeper levels of the Arena dungeon. This was tricky with a Base Speed barely over +10. Obviously, Ulik is too dumb to use Staves of Speed/Healing. I had to use Potions of Speed/Healing sparingly I had some close calls with Glaaki and the Yamata-no-Orochi, but managed to kill these dudes. I did spot Locke, but DAMN, he hit *REALLY, REALLY* HARD. In only 1-2 moves, Locke easily knocked my HP from 900s to 700s while my AC was in 170s-190s...DAMN DUDE!! +11 Base Speed definitely didn't cut it and I really need much higher speed to take him down. I noticed Kenshirou too, but Bast was nearby and too troublesome to fight at the same time.

From here on, I will consider finishing the Mountain and Orc cave dungeons to boost up my INT to see if I will EVER get a drop in failure rate for my Staff of Speed and Staff of Healing. Meanwhile, I'm stock up Potions of Speed/Healing/*Healing*/Curing/Restore Mana and Scrolls of Protection from Evil/Teleport Level, which takes forever.

Note that Locke's corpse is guaranteed for Hugo$oul 934. If I can't kill him right away for whatever reason, I might temporarily settle on a Greater kraken or even Kenshirou/Raou as an alternate.

Time to clean up the home soon.

Still using Ulik the Troll. Completed the Cloning Pits and Old Castle quests. Found loads of goodies. After that, I continued on with the Arena dungeon. Actually, I once made the mistake of recalling to Arena 68 without brining along sources of Recall. I did manage to survive and make it back to the surface the hard way. After surfacing, I took my Rods of Recall from home and headed back to the Arena and descended to dlvl 73. Had some close calls with Habu the Champion of Chaos and Tselakus, the Dreadlord. Tough bastards. Kenshirou is dead, but no corpse was dropped. >:( I actually decided to forgo one of the damage rings in favor of a Ring of Speed. Having some extra speed made life a bit easier.

Oh yeah, I didn't even complete the Mountain and Orc cave dungeons...too boring right now. I'll take care of these later when my fame needs them. My current fame is in the low 70s...and not higher because I got kicked out of Telmora's Arena upon losing to the Greater titan.

I really need to dive into Angband at some point...Max Angband level is dlvl 1 right now!!!!! I think I'll stick with Ulik until I complete several Angband quests and some more dungeons. Being able to bore through walls can be time efficient.

Regarding failure rates for my Staves of Speed and Staff of Healing...they're still abysmally high, like 96%...come on. I didn't find any more !Speed, which was ridiculous. Fortunately, I was able to somehow survive with my current speed in the +10 - +20 range. But, still...

With this current amount of Potions of Speed and Curing, I think I'll stick with Ulik even longer. It would be nice if the RNG could get me some more !*Healing* and !Life.

As far as the INT goes, it's well over 18 and my failure rates for the Staff of Healing and Staff of Speed are still ~95%...forget it...might as well get more !*Healing* and !Speed instead.

Now that I descended all the way to Castle 60, I'll take on Angband next up to Angband 56, stop there, and then come back to the Castle and descend down more as Ulik.

Difficulty in the Arena started to pick up. Stopping at Arena 79 for now. My most difficult monster right now is Atlas, the Titan. He's too hard to kill for my Ulik. Dove to Angband 62 for the quest monster, found Shiva's Avatar boots (dropped by a monster who was not the quest monster), and continued as far as Angband 64. Dove to Castle 64. If the monsters become too hard to kill, it might be time to switch to the Greater kraken.

I did several Reforge trials with mostly crap results despite a fame of 115. Only one somewhat decent attemtpt came up as shown below.

As you can see, I got rid of the Greater kraken and doing so was tricky. Recalling back to Numenor did not guarantee easy navigation. I had to use ?Teleport to land into a watery area to get anywhere. After a few trips, a Great Bile Wyrm finally dropped a corpse into the water area... just what I needed to get back on track. I was running low: down to 5 ?Teleportation. After that, I tried out several bodies. I eventually settled on Ungoliant...and she was pretty good.

With Ungoliant, I have:
Poison IMMUNITY
500 damage Poison breath
300+ damage Darkness breath
HEALING
Darkness storm with AT LEAST 350 damage
+10 Innate speed
Awesome abilitity levels: All are Heroic or better!
Very high proficiency of magical devices - I can use a Wand of Rockets at < 5% failure rate!!

In fact, Ungoliant was so good that I took my Unique kill to another levels...including Wahha-Man, who was actually easy to kill because I spammed the unresisted Darkness Breaths/Storms at him, but the dude didn't drop a corpse...grrrr!! I did have a very close call (as Ungoliant) with the Mouth of Sauron who mana stormed me down to 40HP....Whoa! I even managed to kill AND get a body from an Ultimate Magus!! Finally, I just took out Locke with ease even though he tried to get me with Psycho-Spears...nope that didn't happen because I got him good with my Poison breath (with a screenshot to celebrate)!!

At this time, I'm debating on whether to switch out of Ungoliant for Locke...Ungoliant was a lot more impressive than expected, so it's a tough call, actually.

Although Ungoliant was fun to use, I was having an increasingly difficult time taking out late game monsters. I took out Atlas, the Titan (while still possessing Ungoliant) and he dropped a corpse. I switched to Atlas and now, I'm back to the usual Hugo-melee-madness.

Atlas does not have spells. But, he does have Hit to confuse + Hit to shatter (which can STUN) + Retaliation + Basic five resistances = not bad!

I'm off to dungeons killing uniques whenever possible. Although I do have Locke's corpse at home, I'm going to play with Atlas for a while. If do manage to get Combat-Echizen's body, I'll go for Combat-Echizen instead!

Even though Atlas was pretty strong, he was no match for the Olympians. While playing as Atlas, I nearly got killed by Athena's mana storm! Because of this, I made the switch to Locke...because I knew Locke COULD beat Olympians. I know this from past experience. While playing as Locke, I was pummeling monsters at the same rate as Atlas with a catch...Locke HAS spells for Healing + Haste + Teleport, Atlas DIDN'T!!!

I sought and killed Combat-Echizen but he dropped no corpse!! ...That probably means that I might be using Locke to the end until I get a GCWADL corpse.

Yet, I'm not worried because I can use my Scrolls of Teleport Level anytime while waiting for my Recall to kick in. See screenshot, "Trapped inside vault?"

I'm going to try to take down Hermes next. Hades is too tough right now. I'll face Zeus some other time. I might go back to Angband or R'lyeh for some more descents later on.

Found a way to integrate Fingolfin's Cesti and a non-aggravating Hell Harness to upgrade my melee damage, just enough to kill my FIRST GCWADL. This is definitely an accomplishment. If you don't know GCWADLs, they are known to have big melee damage (e.g. 1d200x2 + 1d100x2), but unfortunately have only one Ring slot and one headgear slot and that's it!!

As you can see, I gave the GCWADL a spin. First off, it does have more than 2 slots. Altogether, it has really has only 5 slots: 1 Ring, 1 Amulet, 1 Headgear, 1 Light Source, and 1 Cloak. Its melee is not as impressive as it looks, in my opinion. Because this thing hits 1d200x2 + 1d100x2, the damage is quite variable and sometimes very disappointing...a lot worse than Locke's Its HP got nerfed as well. However, the GCWADL's hallmark is its arsenal of spells and powers like no other. I never saw a monster with THIS amount of spells and powers EVER! With the GCWADL, you have access to Mana Storm, Rockets, The World (i.e. Stop Time), Globe of Invulnerability, Summon Cyberdemons, and other crazy stuff. I also found out that INT is the primary stat for the spells (via 'm') and CON is the primary stat for the powers (via 'U'). Dor-Lomin helps to increase CON. I can see why Vilya is useful...it increases all stats by +3 plus Lightning immunity.

That's why I recently resumed progress on Hugo$oul 1036. In fact, Hugo$oul 1036 had better luck getting Kenshirou's corpse and finding uber-powerful randarts such as 'Avenging Angel', which when combined with Kenshirou kicks can do > 1200 damage against Demons. Because of this, I might consider re-shelving Hugo$oul 1036 and making another Hugo$oul Possessor on top of #934 and #1036.

Switched to Kronos for more killing power. Took out two badasses: Oremorj and Hermes. Hermes, seriously, is like Jack of Shadows on super steroids. Hermes was tough and extremely annoying. My main approach was to stayed hasted above +40 Base Speed (Hermes is very, very fast), have him follow along, and blast him with the Shards Breath, worked. I had used up so many Potions of Life and Restore Mana that I lost count. Hermes is dead Olympian #10. With Hermes dead, Mt Olympus should be a little less annoying.

Currently at clvl 50 possessing Kronos, the Lord of the Titans with 641 barehanded hit-to-confuse damage with AC 200 and +34 Base Speed.

Taking on the Royal Crypt (the 3.2.0 version). Although I CAN teleport ANYWHERE, that doesn't stop the undead from mass summoning. At one point, I nearly got killed by an Archlich because I played through the quest too fast. Now, I'm going to slow down and carefully dissect this place.
