wizardstaff.As you take it in your hands you feel the
\\power of Naphra flooding into your veins.
b) The Scimitar 'Soulsword' (3d5) (+4,+6) (+3) {Sh}
\\Normally I get this one extremely early.But not this time,I think I got it
after level 50,and then some.
c) The Harp of Apollo (+5 to speed) {cursed}
\\Really nice artifact
d) The Ring of the Ages [+20] (+4)
i didn't need the time resistance really,but I needed the +4 to CON.
e) a Ring of Speed (+13)
\\Aaaah,rings of speed...I think I might have gotten better ones,but my
manastorm just destroyed pretty much all my loot(except artifacts >.>)
f) a Barbarian Talisman [+15] (+1) {Dx;-In[Sm, Noktagades}
\\I don't know.Did I got lucky with that or are these "common"?I just know that
even with the Anti summoning,I got a lot of summons.I am positive that
\\without this amulet I wouldn't have won.Chris,if you see this,make this an
artifact too!
\\item description:"Noktagades",or voice choker was once the most treasured
posession of a barbarian chieftain named Nanoc.He was given 
\\this amulet by benevolent nature spirits to destroy the Quylthulgs which had
infested the lands.Unfortunately,the Amulet isnt foolproof.
\\Nanoc learned that the hard way.Since then,many travellers and adventurers
used this amulet,but none for too long.

\\Somehow,every random artifact with the name "genesis" tends to be insanely
powerful.I searched for a power dragon scale mail
\\to replace it,but I didn't find it(Or perhaps I did,and my Manastorm destroyed
it...sigh)
i) The Shadow Cloak of Luthien [6,+13] (+2) {Nx}
j) The Iron Crown of Beruthiel [0,+24] (+25) <+192%> {cursed}
\\One of my main goals!Guess who dropped it?Morgoth,and that AFTER I killed the
Serpent.This may have been actually good though,because if I would
\\have found it earlier,I most likely would have used it even if I could not
have taken the hit to CON(and died in subsequence).
\\It gave me 450 healing with 0 failure rate :DDD.Henceforth I didn't use "True
healing" anymore(11% failure rate).In gameplay terms,It gave me practically
\\3 free turns,because my spells were 3 times more powerful.Thats
INSANE!!!!Thanks to the iron crown of beruthiel I theoretically could do 3400
damage with
\\Logrus Breath.With Blood rite,it jumped up to 4500!!!!!!!!!!!!Fear my wrath

enough to get teleported INTO the midst of the nasty nasties.

stood a chance :-)

\\Captured new hydras for this quest and unleashed them on the poor undead.four
unresisted 500ish damage breath attacks...ouch

\\Now,that was just simply ***EPIC***.You see,one of the random monsters was
Dwar,lord of Waw.I had already accepted the demise of my character
\\but I somehow got lucky.Just in time,i remembered I had an effin teleport
other spell with a reasonably fail rate.Thus I damaged him and
\\Teleported him away,and he like any other good dog came back,again and
again.At the end,that wasn't enough tho,but then I remembered yet again
\\my Blood rite.I invoked it and send him to smitherens.

\\Interesting in ways you cannot imagine.Thanks god lesser wall monster do not
resist Chaos.It was like this:I entered the place and out of habit,I
\\hold down my macro attack key.I had miserable stealth,so the effin wall
monsters woke up.Too late I realized how screwed I was.I panicked and
\\started killing them,but they bred too fast.This was a major setback,because
there was no way I would retreat.Either win the quest or die!
\\So,I thought for a short while and suddenly I had an idea.LOGRUS!The battle
was just crazy,stark raving mad.There were so many wall monsters,and they
\\all polymorphed.All the while I was holding my golden macro key(tab).There
were so many monsters on the screen that the game actually slowed down!!
\\It is a sign of my power that altough I was surrounded by 70> nasties,I still
did prevail.
\\Simple words cannot describe it,but suffice to say that at the end,there was
not a single piece of (nonpermament) wall standing in that place
\\One of my greatest moments in video games,truly <3.

Poschengband was also the second game where I could play a blood mage class.I just LOVE blood magic for some reason.Mayhaps for the sheer oddity of it?(first game that included blood mages was dragen age origins).As a side note,add in bone mages,visceral mages and wall mages too :DD.let the insanity unfold and embrace the whole world!!!!


To my character.I started with crappy stats and a crappy life rating of 93 and I didn't use any game exploits,so I feel extremely good about this win.it is indeed a deserved victory.
I gained my first 15-20 levels of experience in the wilderness,courtest of water trolls and the ogre horde of grendel.I then proceeded to visit Morivant and Telmora,and also changed my magic realm to chaos(teleportation,mana burst<3)
I did the sewers quest which thanks god ran smoothly(it could have gone horribly wrong if those nasty icky things breeded towards me).With my new lamp,I did the arena for the potion of speed and went back to morivant.There,I quaffed the potion of speed and did the Tengu and death sword quest.After that,I did the mimics quest,and after that I visited Angvil,decimating the orcish and demonic host.Aaaaaaaafter that,it was time for good ol' dungeon diving.I think I did the orc caves if I remember correctly.My memories are very vague from this stage of game,but I remember that I had discovered the beauty of pets.After getting a lil bit power,I took on lone flame hydras and captured them rather easily.Believe me,neither the logrus master (telmora quest),nor the vault nor the undeads(both telmora quests yet again)can withstand the combined power of four eleven(or 9 headed) headed hydras!!!!!!!!!!11111
Even though much later,I used the same strategy yet again for the cloning pits.Of course,this time even 4 11headed hydras didn't cut it,but they bought me much needed time to escape.As I have mentioned in my dump,the effin LORD OF WAW was there,and I had not nether resistance(hint,he casts nether spells).Well,I took some screenshots.I am gonna figure out how to upload them and resume the post!

Well,As I remember,the rewards for the cloning pits were underwhelming,as was the quest reward.As I said,I have a very vague memory from that stage of game.Well,from there things may have gone smoothly.I mostly travelled the swamps north of outpost,visited ancient ruins of numenor(random seas),and got artifacts and nice loot in general.I remember that after getting my fourth chaos realm spell book and some decent spell fail rate,I wreaked havoc upon the denizens of the ocean.I gained *alot* of experience from krakens and fastitocilans.I also did the arena dungeon.In hindsight,my rise to power began with the extensive use of the gravity bolt+heal.All hail to the physical laws(and not obliging them,lol)

I didn't even think about doing the spawning pits quest in Angvil UNTIL i found an anti summoning amulet.Wow....just how lucky was i exactly?

Anyway,from there it was pretty straightforward.Does it live?->manastorm\rockets. Does it move->manastorm\rockets.
Is it dead and inanimate?Surprise->manastorm\rockets!

I was so strong,I didn't even bother retreating into corridors.3 enemies at once were nothing.4 still managable.I only teleported when they surrounded me from all sides,and even then it was extreme precaution on my part.(I considered 300-400 hp low.:-P).For example.at the later stages of the game(with beruthiel)I took down 3 great wyrms of power in the open.

I never was able to max it out though,because I would have lost 13 speed and electricity resistance if i did.:0.I had kinda "scummed" for extra resilience and fat mutation though,but I cured all of my mutations before ascending\winning the game(and as you may have noticed,I edited the winning message to something worthy of my char!!!!*lol*)

I wanted to have more spell power artifacts aswell a power dragon scale mail.I may have found several pdsm,but y'know,manastorm tears everything apart,including all non artifacts >.>.


The fight with the plain gold ring was ridiculously easy,easier than the fight with azog(lol!).it was in a small vault and simply didn't move.it was just standing there.So i retreated out of its los and cast manastorm after manastorm.It feebly tried to summon,but only a handful of liches heard its call(anti summoning,anyone?).As a side note,it didn't drop the ring of power.From a roleplaying point it is absolutely logical,since not even the one ring can withstand my awesome arcane might,it probably got torn to pieces.From a technical point of view.WTF?
Anyway,my plan was to cast a scroll of mundanity on it and then drop it into lava.The important thing is,that it is destroyed <3!


however,there is always,ALWAYS somebody stronger,nastier and more clever than you.In my case,it was the effin metal babble.It was COMPLETELY immune to every single spell in existence.I changed it's visual to a big pink "Y" and *destructed* and ran away whenever I saw it.May it rot for eternity in whatever dimension destructed monsters end up in


Oh,and I also killed the serpent twice :-).I thought its zombified version was a unique,but it sadly wasn't.I somehow felt that its zombified version was stronger?!


For this character,I even wrote a (roleplaying) journal,depicting the most remarkable things in its adventure,here is the last entry,and thus the end of my post :-) hope reading it wasn't too much of a hassle.

I think Life needs to be disallowed, actually. 11% fail on Healing True means you can cast infinitely as it still heals 1000hp. Normal mages can only do 3,000 to 4,000 damage before having to retreat.

This is one of Dave's classes I haven't gotten around to trying out yet.

Actually, it's too heavy. Currently, Blood-Mages are not being punished for armor encumbrance and rigid gloves since these both affect mana. This will be rectified next release!

The _Magi is hard to get (late Arena reward and never found in dungeon, though I might have changed that and forgot) and !RestoreMana aren't common enough. I usually get 20 to 30 in an entire game yet there are about 200 uniques that will exceed mana capacity for a mage. The Pendant is one use only and is very useful (Takes 1000 turns to recharge). You missed Eat Magic which is what mages do. Except it takes 20 or 30 actions to get all your mana back so is both frustrating and not something you do on the fly in the heat of battle.

For balance, I hope just removing access to any form of healing spell will suffice. But I fear end game will just involve a rather large stack of healing staves ... That might still be OK since it is only 150 a pop and Beruthiel won't break the device game.

actually,i wouldn't have a problem if you disallowed life magic.i mean,the roleplaying part gets hit hard,but well.Infact,i suggest you disallow all "good" magic realms.that means crusade too!
i think the best thing you could do,would be this.disallow good magic realms and when the player defeats morgoth\serpent,script it so that they may use life magic again(it's pretty pointless,but this way,roleplaying wouldn't take a hit).wait,side note before i forget it.the staff of the magi DOES appear in dungeons,and also in the random item shop.i once found it in the icky caves with a blood mage(meh),and also got it in the random item shop.


back to the point.if life magic were to be disallowed,the obvious choice would be to switch to sorcery because of recharge(chaos has that too,but i am not sure whether that of sorcery isn't more powerful(doesnt destroy items) or not.the annoying part would be that it would be difficult if not impossible to macro healing this way.because,if you take loot,or loose loot,the item shortcut changes.i suggest you to make an option where players can fix item shortcuts to certain items.infact,that would be very beneficent for all classes.everyone who is using devices heavily and obviously devicemasters.
