In Vanilla you never benefit from having more than one permament resist. The three levels of protection are 1) permanent OR temporary resist 2) permanent + temporary resist 3) immunity. Only base elements and poison have temporary resists and immunities are for base elements only. On top of this you have the saving throw which can reduce a lot of non-melee effects, for this you want max INT & WIS.

About rNether - unlike the resist for base elements, the effect of rNether varies a lot. Sometimes it does not help much at all. This works since the max damage from Nether is lower than for base elements and poison.

On a serious note, this is kind unavoidable. I need better and higher resist equipments. To do that within the time frame, I need to dive deeper, which carries more risks, including creatures who can breathe nether and kill this character in one (or almost) hit.

So, basically, it’s a cycle:

To get resists and good equips ---> dive deeper
BUT
dive deeper ---> more dangerous creatures
SO
To protect my character against these more dangerous creatures ---> Get resists and good equips

I guess some characters are more lucky. If I have time, I’ll try again.
