As far as the (supposedly) useless powers go, my thoughts are these (beware the text wall!):

Blending, I feel, is a little difficult to get a bead on. How useful it is is dependent on a number of things (your stealth without it, your current speed, how far out of your depth you are, ect.); the simplest solution might be to make it a toggle power that lowers your maximum available SP while it's active, with the higher tiers having higher penalties. For the record, the reason I haven't taken it with my psions is that I think that stealth is an all-or-nothing thing . . . and if I'm going to focus on stealth, I'd prefer to not use stealth that might give out at an inopportune moment.

Brain Smash I can't really give a qualified opinion on, as I've not yet been able to get to a level where I could choose it. Even if I was able to do so, though, I probably wouldn't choose it, as it's my experience that you can never get a detrimental effect to stick to anything you'd really like it to. Also, I have enough trouble getting an 'Ego Whip' to take, sometimes.

Protection could stand some improving, to be sure--the five resistances it gives you at tier five are the ones you *REALLY* want to keep covered all the time, and due to diminishing returns, it's not really worth it just so you can stack those resists. I can think of a couple of ways to fix it: have it also cover some secondary resists, or have it provide multiple hits of a resistance, perhaps even an immunity.

Spell power works for psions. Decrement mana does not.

Changes so far (next version):
[1] Seeing gives Clairvoyance for the top tier.
[2] Blending gives more stealth and lasts a very long time. I might use this for an archer build.
[3] Protection is better: Fire&Cold -> Fire&Cold&Elec -> Resistance -> Resistance + Elemental Auras -> Immunity.

I have ideas for new powers as well:
[1] A psionic drain spell that feeds the players mana whenever a visible monster casts a spell.
[2] A psionic disruption spell that attempts to block monster spellcasting.
[3] A psionic line of sight damage spell that is weaker than storm (which will be give a smaller area of effect).

I'll put out a trial release soon ...

Regarding Drain, I went with something a bit different so, no, if the spell is blocked you won't benefit. It would be hard to code it this way anyway since monsters don't pay mana casting costs so you really only have a vague idea how much drain to apply after the spell is cast (using damage as a proxy for mana).

Ego Whip is awesome for monsters that think they can flee my wrath by teleporting away. Although, one side effect was when Saruman did this, dying some place on the level (his range is huge), and having the level feeling go special in The Arena. It took awhile to find the loot :)

CL50 will be Mental Fortress, I think.

I finally got enough melee for The Cloning Pits and also, it seems, The Old Castle as well. Both rewards were nice but I thought I'd post my melee kit before shuffling for Eternity, which I absolutely *must* find a way to wear!

This character becomes very weak once sp run out, and I didn't want to risk things going bad in the quests (Clear Mind is like 7sp a pop and you seldom have time in quests to spam it 30x in a row). And Ringil really needed to see some action this game :)

Well, my mana woes are over as I took Mindspring instead for my L50 power. Definitely a weaker choice than either Fortress or Disruption, at least for the Serpent. But it will make getting there oh so much more fun! I just turn on the Mindspring and forget about sp. Heck, I've even risked the uber high fail rate top tier psionic storm a bit. No problems with ~L70 uniques, so I'll head a bit deeper.

Well, I wasn't really playing careful with this guy. A bit OP, I decided to try Master Tonberry and I proved that he is indeed a death trap. I missed the message about my speed running out but it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway. He summoned a bunch of tonberries who came in with free moves good for all my hp in one fell swoop. AC 163 is high for a mage type, so I guess he should just be left alone.
