Turn 189, Level 1, Town

Alright, I know I can do this one, 'cause I've done it before. This should net me that nice main gauche.

1st Quest (Monster/Unique): 19 Rattlesnakes, 100'

On 25.2.2015 10:37 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 4612, Level 10, 100'

Yay, I got my main gauche again!

2nd Quest (Monster/Unique): 10 Dark Elven Priests, 250'

On 25.2.2015 11:29 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 11623, Level 14, 250'

Sm?agol showed up at 200' and dropped a randart bow--however, I've yet to drudge up the Au to *ID* it.

Also, I was offered a Scythe of Slicing as a potential reward for my second quest, but I decided to turn it down as it wasn't ego.

3rd Quest (Guardian): 20 Griffons, 350'

On 25.2.2015 11:56 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 14544, Level 17, 350'

Still trying to scrounge up Au so I can *ID* that Long Bow . . .

4th Quest (Pit/Nest): Lesser Cave Dweller Nest, 450'

On 26.2.2015 04:13 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 22522, Level 21, 450'

Finally *ID*d my Long Bow, but it turned out to be pretty uninspiring--all the hidden powers were sustains for stats I don't care about.

I also picked up two more randarts, a weapon and a digger. Unfortunately, I can't use either without both crippling my damage output and losing my ability to see the invisible.

5th Quest (Pit/Nest): Orc Pit, 600'

On 26.2.2015 05:23 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 30000, Level 23, 600'

Picked up another randart (my handgear), and was offered yet another randart as a reward for quest five. Handgear was worth it, the reward wasn't--I opted to defer in hopes of better choices next time.

6th Quest (Pit/Nest): Lesser Cave Dweller Nest, 750'

On 26.2.2015 06:30 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 39189, Level 25, 750'

Man, where were all these randarts hiding when I was playing the previous characters? I swear, every time I come back up it's with another randart.

At least I have FrAct this time, cause it's demons again.

7th Quest (Level): Minor Demons, 850'

On 26.2.2015 08:51 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 55786, Level 27, 850'

Man that quest for *FOREVER*! Damned tengus, dodging my blows and blinking around . . .

The worst of it is, I gotta do it again at 1000'

8th Quest (Level): Minor Demons, 1000'

On 26.2.2015 10:15 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 60643, Level 27, 1000'

Demon-clearing went better this time--mostly because the level was smaller, and thus, easier to find tengus. My reward was some handwear that provides Telep!

It probably won't save me, because I'm my own worst enemy.

9th Quest (Arena): 1150'

On 26.2.2015 11:11 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 63267, Level 29, 1150'

oh hey i'm still alive

Found a !ofExperience and quaffed it after a little deliberation--I figured I could use more immediate survivability. The arena quest reward was my body armour--I needed to get rConf covered, even if I had to shuffle out Telep.

10th Quest (Labyrinth): 10 Faded Scroll Fragments, 1300'

On 26.2.2015 12:49 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 69393, Level 30, 1300'

oh god the hounds

If this is what Vanilla ~used~ to be like then I can see why everyone had PTSD over the hounds.

I'm overdue for a new weapon; I've got a nice one sitting at home, but it aggravates. ;(

11th Quest (Level): Cave Dwellers, 1450'

On 27.2.2015 04:21 TheOtherMITZE@yahoo.com wrote:
Turn 79817, Level 32, 1450'

Boy, was *that* quest a pain--I nearly ran out of healing, and my _ofSpeed kept getting destroyed. At least I got a better weapon from it; nothing that great, but it's better than what I was using.

12th Quest (Wilderness): 20 Faded Scroll Fragments, 1600'

@nppangband:

So I saw! Unfortunately, I didn't see your comment until after I died! ;(

I don't know if the level I ended up on is representative of what a wilderness quest level looks like most of the time (I ended up in a large open room that was probably only a little bit smaller than a full-size map), but I didn't go into it expecting something that big.

If it *is* representative, I think putting a comment in the manual/help about the typical size of a wilderness quest level would be nice.

By the way, I want to congratulate you on your variant--I think this might now be my favorite of the bunch. I especially like the new, varied traps that don't necessarily wait for you to step on them before they do stuff. Also, the inscriptions on the walls (presumably left by previous, and perhaps less fortunate, adventurers): nice touch. Also also, I like the fact that putting cursed ammo into your quiver actually has a tangible negative effect, and that you just can't get rid of it by wanton firing.

Seriously, man, good job!
