Well, I thought, time to go and do that god quest. Finally found the temple way out past Rhun, descended figuring on a quick trip in and out... oops! It is level 1 - you are fated to DIE! (and me with only a couple of CCW) It took hours of cat and mousing, lurking in corners to heal and recover SP, but I finally managed to take out the Greater Rotting Q and the arch/master liches it had summoned. Then it was just mopping up the lesser summons and an AMHD and I'm out!

Finally got an amulet of the magi, so I can take off the crown of seeing and wear my crown of the magi and get down to 0% fail.

This guy has made clvl 50. Now I'll see how long I can keep him alive. The +42 speed with his haste spell helps a lot, but he's a little light on damage dealing.

Wow... I must say I'm impressed; someone actually took up to the task of trying to win with a Warper. Good job on getting to Clevel 50.

Just what is your damage right now anyway?

Fireball's not a great spell because all the priests and angels are immune to it, and your mana is relatively low. Guess you're mainly using firewall then?

Just curious; why did you pump Magic Device that high?

On 25.11.2003 16:24 rkyllo@shaw.ca wrote:
Well, fireflash (350 dam) is still good for most things, but yes, I use firewall (124) a lot as well as manathrust (35d13). Angels are definitely my biggest problem as many of them resist being teleported away also.

I pumped magic device initially as my idea was to use wands for offence, and it worked well in the early stages, though I don't often find useful ones any more. A lot of those magic device points came from Fumblefingers, as he hasn't offered a whole lot else that was useful.

On 29.11.2003 00:34 rkyllo@shaw.ca wrote:
I guess the damage dealing isn't as much of a problem as I thought, when combined with the speed and other spells. Beat Azriel and his Archons fairly easily using firewall and manathrust, and the thunderlord quest wasn't as bad as I thought it may be, even though a few extra golds were summoned, including Marda.

Uriel is down now too, with very little difficulty. Guess I'll go poke around in Erebor for a bit, before I tackle Angband.

My first time finding the Ring, dropped by Glaurung along with Cubragol and Thranduil. I left Thranduil behind, but Cubragol gives me a nice base speed of +35 and +53 hasted.

Gabriel is down now, too, as well as a few more uniques in some vaults on Mt Doom (see screenshot). The only things I had to run from were the G Wyrms of Power/Balance that got summoned by one of the demons. Actually, only one GWoP was summoned, and it summoned the rest - and I almost had it killed when it did that. Couldn't handle a whole pack of wyrms, though.

I wonder if Sauron knew that Vilya was just lying around on Mt. Doom...?

I'm thinking that a Manwe worshipping Warper is a very powerful class. I can keep myself permanently hasted to +61 without any trouble, and with Phase Door and the swap places version of Recall, defeating powerful enemies has become easier than with any character I have tried yet. On this last level, where I found Vilya, I defeated two GWoP and assorted other GW of Balance, Law, etc.

Found Nenya, so thought I'd sacrifice some speed for the last immunity and telepathy, which in turn allows me to wear Celebrimbor instead of the Magi, and get some extra spell power. Then I went to look around on Mt Doom a bit more, and what do I find? Another Nenya!! Kinda cool, but I don't think that's supposed to happen.

Just diving and doing quests in Angband now. Princess quest for 14 GRQs was easy as they were all in a confined space with no room to summon. The FF quest for 15 Master Qs was a lot tougher. Now I just found Qlzqqlzuup in a nicely confined space and he wasted his one chance to summon on hounds.

Thought I might finally have a winner, but fell victim to the 'one more round' syndrome. I could easily have escaped, but the one more round resulted in a heavy stun from the grand master mystic, and then being killed by everything he summoned.
