As for Marquis de la Tour, it /is/ an amazing missile weapon - but I just use spells when things are miles away, so I prefer the +8 saving throw on Nick Carter.

My other point is that invisibility from Mr. Dracula's cloak is quite nice (things don't cast at you, things don't see you, things don't hit you, things don't really care about you), but it makes you invincible. Nothing will ever kill me. Ever. Except by wandering into me randomly (but with 1500hp+ they still won't).
