There isn't any trick to do with traps is there? I had one bigger vault, and with the ring of warning I knew where traps were. The fifth trap was a trap door, so gbye vault... but even with levitation, activating all traps seems kinda risky ...

Another thing: I noticed that the monster_cheat thingy is activated if using standart options and I didn't change it. How bad do those monsters cheat on me? Especially does it increase their rate of summoning?

As for traps, the only thing I can suggest is playing with Arena and Small levels on, so that you don't get any uber-vaults. At least that way you can minimize missing out on artifacts when traps force you to abandon (or forcibly eject you!).

Oh and yes Spec did get the AFC. It also has two more curses now. I'm taking a screeny of it now :)
