Well, I found out recently that when I tried to fix a wraithform AI bug, I made it impossible for monsters to fire projectiles (arrows, boulders, poisoned missiles), but I've got it (and a partial fix to the wraithform AI) fixed now. So, I guess I was getting kinda easy from the kobald dart-throwers, Trolls, etc.

Now, this character hasn't dived as fast as a lot of my characters. Primarily, I'd attribute this to a wider spread of skills. However, that same spread of skills is likely to keep me alive. And here I was just complaining about never finding BoS...

Some gloves of FA or (dare I ask?) Cammirinthin would be lovely. That'd give me a ring switch and some extra AC. I think I'll be shying away from bat form from now on (except against disenchanters).

I think this character has some bright prospects.

Well, I'm managing hugely better equipment via armor forging than I generally get from the dungeon. I've started to run into Shelob a lot, and I found her and Scatha in a "pit par excellence". I cleared most of the pit, but Scatha breathed cold (at a distance of like 8 squares) for nearly my entire HP total (had 53 left from full). I ducked around a corner, quaffed some CCW and teleported away. I didn't collect most of the contents, as I had no means of teleport away and Scatha and Shelob were nearby. Still no source of resist poison found, unfortunately. BUt I did net a wand of annihilation (which will be useful when I can actually use it reliably.

These boots of speed are really, really helpful. I hope I don't die. I'm still on schedule to finish in 1M turns, though I recall that the middle 30 or so levels are really hard (40-70 or so). Genocide is my friend. So is teleport away (too bad I don't have it yet). Also, some more potions of int would be nice. It got switched with like wisdom, so it's going to be a while before it's really high again. I miss my mana.

Wow. Just cleared a diagonal vault at dlevel 66, and while the loot wasn't great, it did help a lot, really. Picked up 2 mithril and 2 runegold which makes some great armor and a pretty decent shield.

What's best is that a Vampire Lord (from the nearby undead pit) blinked in and coughed up the necronomicon. Wow! My last winner didn't even have it! And it's got tele-away and lich powers and forbid summoning! This is starting to look like an end-game kit, if I can net something like Tulkas or a RoP and find some deent resist poisoin (even barahir would be welcomed).

And the tempo is looking good -- I'm looking forward to my first sub IM turn win.

Well, things are getting hard again. I'm sitting here at ring of speed and Narya depth, but no one is willing. At least I get to be fast +19 pretty much all the time (lich powers). Also, double resist on cold and poison is pretty sweet. I suspect that Ungoliant won't be nearly as har as last time (kept getting paralyzed from the breath).

Anyhoo, Omarax was an insanely long battle. He picked out my weaknesses pretty fast -- helldark and brain smash. I could prevent the brainsmash some by using the spell that increases saving throw (mff). But mostly I hopped in and out of the walls hitting him with lightning balls and the occassional mana bolt thingie (mcc, don't recall name). Anyhoo, I think in the end, I wore him out of mana, as I could regen more or less instantaneously (triumphs of will spells).

Ren and Fundin both came out of the same vault but were teleported away to deal with Omarax. Ren died, I left Fundin for later (I really don't like things with Holy Smite). He'd probably be mostly a pushover now, but I'd rather leave him be for a while. No reason to go after a guy you don't need to kill... there's plenty of banishment and teleport another for nasties later.

Again. In summary... drop me more speed items!!! (Narya would be great!). So would Tulkas.

Well. With Gothmog and the Witchking and both Angel uniques down, as well as the Tarrasque and Ancalagon, I'm not sure there's anything stopping me from finishing this, now that I got a decent ring of speed (read: Vilya). The plan for killing Morgy is an old one, but good one. Annihilation and doomblasts and anti-summon. Genocide anything that gets though and move about the level with impunity to heal and regain mana.

Sauron, is of course first -- I'll probably kill him from the walls, but needless to say, he's going to be nasty.

Morgoth was stuck inside a vault with some permawalls, so I genocided the whole level and lured him out. Unfortunately, my blink didn't have range, so it didn't blink me away when he came in sight, so I teleported out of there, and then it was cat and mouse. I never actually remembered to cast forbid summoning, but genociding is easy enough.

Consumables used: around 10 ?*Recharging*, 1 CCW, 1 charge of _Tele, lots of annihilation and doomblasts.
