This character began so weak that I had to hunt north of Bree before I could enter the Barrow-Downs. I have since explored BDw 1 and 2 repeatedly. My first trip to BDw 2 netted a Staff of Disarm[1|10] and Staff of Reveal Ways[1|25]; they sold for 360 and 2526 gold. Since then, I have found more gold and used it to buy enchanted armor in Bree and Gondolin (a town northeast of Bree).

I had not planned to wear a shield or gloves. However, I bought a Morning Star to replace the two-handed Mace, freeing the shield slot. Also, even though Manathrust (through Prayer) is my primary attack, my Priest(Eru) has no skill any school of magic, thus the mage penalty for gloves does not apply! --Kernigh

I have just now returned to Bree after finding that first relic piece, boosting Prayer from 4 to 11.5. Meanwhile, Stealth is 9.6, Sprituality is 14.2, Mindcraft is 18. I explored five times the top level of the lost temple (at the far east of the map) and returned five times to Minas Anor to sell loot.

The lost temple put me from experience level 10 to 15. Now I am back at Bree, and soon I will recall to BDw 3. --Kernigh
