The necromancer ability to come back from the dead was not very useful or important to me in the void. I had the potion of life and never needed it. Since I had the maximum number of companions all as great worms of power my strategy was centered around letting them do all the work. At first this meant carrying around several rods of the istari of healing. Most of the damage my character took wasn't from hostiles but rather from my own companions and their horde of summons. Then I figured out that I can shield myself from most of it by encasing myself in a wall of stone using wands of stone prison.
