I didn't see any priest types on the ladder, so I thought I'd give one a try. This is the first time I've ever played one. Is he cheesy? Probably, but at least he's legitimate. And while the boots and weapons might seem really overpowering, down in the lower levels of Angband none of it made much difference. Only the HP boost on my weapon (and armor) mattered then.

While I like to create characters that get alchemy, I really didn't use it much for this character, largely since I didn't get the modifier up to 0.500 until level 88 of Angband.
