The viewable area of the screen is represented by the number of characters or tiles visible at one time. That is what I mean is fixed. The games are almost all hard-coded to prevent you from seeing beyond those borders.

I remember wanting the same thing until I read a bit of several *band change logs about issues that arise from expanding the viewable area.

While it would be nice to see more than the usual area, this works both ways. Imagine summoners in a huge viewable area. They are hard enough as it is.

Perhaps this is something someone should look into. Not only increasing the viewable area, but also weakening the summoners and other ranged creatures.

Ah well. I suspect we are stuck with this until someone writes a revolutionary improvement in the way this is handled.

Pretty bummed because Jason had the best equipment I've ever gotten... covering every major resist b/w a robe of perm. and a soulsword. Attila was just too strong... should have teleported out.
