After reading some other dumps, I've been stocking most of my inventory on ammo. Ranged attacks in general seem much more effective than melee, though I very much like the way melee and blows work in this variant - very intuitive.

I'm glad you like the way melee works. I think it's a combination of:
- damage bonuses acting as multipliers rather than adders
- new blows formula (Dex-based, but with a minimum Str requirement for each weapon)
- allowing brands to stack with slays.

At least it gets rid of 'whip syndrome'.
