rec.games.roguelike.angband looking glass
As of March 31 2008, my ISP's USENET feed provider ceased to exist (buyout by another company). Since that date, I no longer have any access to the USENET. Therefore, I am forced to discontinue r.g.r.a frontend on Angband.oook.cz website.

Surely the primary point of a rod is one that you omit and that is still
true, namely that unlike either wand or staff it is inexhaustible. If I
have a rod, I am happy to use it whenever it seems handy; if I have the
corresponding wand or staff, I will only use it if I am sure the
expenditure of a charge is justified. I have almost never bothered to
recharge rods, and if I have to suffer a "drain charges" attack, would
much rather it was a rod that got drained than a staff or wand. I have
more sympathy with your desire for indestructibility, since that is a
natural correlate of inexhaustibility. I think the list of
indestructible rods is a minimal one and hope that even lesser rods are
less vulnerable to destruction than wands. But even if they are not,
stacking more than compensates.
Best wishes,
