The floor crumbed under me and I landed in a long corridor with orc champions plus a captain at one end and orc warriors at the other end. I used my song and that managed to get rid of some of the orcs but not enough...at least I took the captain out. At the end I was quaffing potions and eating herbs in hopes of coming up with a life saver. No chance of that. Honestly I don't think that I could have survived this and it wasn't my fault either...

That is a very unfortunate landing point. A few more points in Song would probably have let you drive them all away (at least for a little while), so I would have spent the left over experience on that.

I'd also spread my experience a bit less evenly so that I had some more defined strengths.

Half: Honestly I find that Angband is a crapshoot and Sil is no different. I spent my early exp to get enough smithing to create some armor for myself which helped me survive up to that point...but honestly I forgot about the extra exp that had had gotten. I probably would have spent it on combat abilities. I wouldn't have considered spending it on song. But that is a great idea.
