I have been at least attempting the uniques I encounter, and to save mana i have been using a lot of branded arrows and then casting rift (If mana is available) or phase door (scroll) when the nasty gets close. Uniques:
I fought with Glaurung for a while and got him really low, but he summoned an Ancient Multihued Dragon and a Hell Wyrm.
My mana was low at this point, and I had no more mana pots on me, so rather than risk it, I teleported them all away and
gave up on Glaurung for now.

I did kill some lesser uniques Bert the stone Troll, Waldern King of Water, and Adunphel the Quiet. Nothing of note dropped.

I have killed 56 uniques.

Leveling:
I found another potion of Experience tonight and made level 42.
