An attempt at a stealthy, non-combative character. She made it deeper than any of my others so far, but mostly because I was diving for xp and to avoid fights.

I think you maybe have been chasing after Sprinting, but I think these pacifist characters need to emphasize stealth a lot more than evasion in the early game. Sprinting is really not necessary until you get to wargs IMO -- the only really dangerous fast monsters before that are shadow spiders, and you can avoid those by ducking around a corner.

I was chasing Sprinting, because I felt like it would help me get away once I was noticed. I suppose I need to concentrate more on not getting noticed in the first place. Thanks for the advice. :)

Try using Finarfin as well. You'll probably want quite a few perception skills, like listen, and every point counts. Plus, they have a grace bonus, which makes singing a bit easier. And trust me, you'll appreciate singing when you get deeper.

Tried some more, and ended up with this run, which was better than before. Thanks for the advice on Perception. I need a better escape plan for when I do get noticed. An experience like this really highlights the difference between Sil and other games that allow teleport, which was my gut reaction to what I ought to do. :)

Tried the stealth character again. Was going pretty well, with some narrow escapes when a group of orcs including Orcobal came up the stairs next to me. I maneuvered to the corner, waiting for them to pass, but there were so many that one tried to move into me and noticed me. I almost Exchanged Places out of trouble, but had one too many orcs in the way. Ah well.

In general, is this the right approach with a stealth pacifist? Take all the Stealth you can until 10 or 11, then take some perception to get Keen Senses and Listen? That was my plan, and I was most of the way to Listen when this happened.
