SCROLLMASTER! I don't see any on the ladder (only 7 devicemasters total, almost all them wands or else chris testing potion/rodmasters). Chris had mentioned he thought these guys were fun, so I figure why not, let's give him a whirl.

I have to imagine that most of my damage does and will come from wands anyways, though I know eventually scrolls of ice/fire/etc might be really sweet, assuming my preservation rate is decent.

I have really NO idea what powers I'll get or what advantages I have, besides knowing I have a good devices score and can occasionally read a scroll without expending it. I've got access to detect/identify devices and also recharge, which is of course useful.

Relevant finds:
a) Rod of Detection, thieves quest !
b) Long Sword (+2, +7) thieves reward, sold for gold because it was too heavy...but for 1.2k because that enchantment level is so unusual.

Any advice would be welcome, though I may not see it before I run this guy into an untimely death.

Also, OF COURSE it would be when I'm playing a Devicemaster that I get a super early Set of Leather Gloves of the Berserker (-13,+15) [1,-19] (+2) {At;-InSl;Fe} that activates for whirlwind.

I'm using it, of cousre. My melee damage shot up from a piddling 12 to 58!
