Having a lot of fun with this variant. While I thought Death was the nastiest unique, this guy actually got his revenge on him thanks to his amazing main weapon and the student x3 attack ability. A nexus vortex swapped my con for my strength, which doubled my hit points (400+) but dropped me a few attacks. No matter. :) Just waiting for the next nasty surprise in this variant. I have to say the nastiest monster so far is the tortoro (sp?) monster. It's found in groups, has up to 64 hit points each, breeds, summons kin, basically takes over a level if you don't have genocide. And found at 900! Really, really nasty.

Love the game though. Lots of new artifacts,
monsters and uniques. Good stuff. Hope this guy gets a lot farther. :)

Update: got to level 36, 2100 or maybe 2150. Met Photon. Made the mistake of allowing Photon a chance to hit me first, or maybe just not being properly prepared for him (read: 36 attacks). So, his ridiculous melee damage killed me. Only fair I suppose since I was doing the same thing to any monster I faced (with the proper spell prep). Hope I find that katana again sometime. Sure made things fun. :)
