Of course, I may have simply lucked out on this run with that mithril greatsword, which I want to say I found on ~300 feet? The +2 ring of evasion and greaves of the helcaraxe certainly help too, but those I found much later.

Got forced off of 400 feet by a snow troll which came up the stairs from behind me while I was half hp. Then forced from 350 feet back to 400 feet by some wargs which spotted me instantly when I went up the stairs. Almost got forced off 400 feet again by a giant. But managed to eke out a victory and recuperate.
