Here's my Ranger.

Scummed Thieve's Quest for 30 minutes and the randart Cutlass 'Seven Tools' was the result. Not a bad little weapon for a lvl 4 Ranger. It meant Redleaf had 4 blows from the get go as he got +4 dexterity to go with a level up increase in Dex as well (4 blows for 124 damage with Acid Brand for a chlvl 4 Ranger definitely sped things up). See screesnshot.

Did the Warg Quest who were all one hit kills. Then did a couple of the early quests straight away becuase of the early offence.

At Chlvl 14 dropped down to top level of Dragon's Lair and levelled up to 20 in a matter of minutes from young dragons and a pack of Algoroths. A bit of risk there but being a ranger stealth and detection made it easier.

Don't have any base res (apart from res environment spell) so off to do Angband lvl 6 and 12 random quest monsters to see what they drop.

Enjoying playing a Ranger. Feel a bit dirty about scummin the Thieve's quest for an excellent item (in this case it turned out to be 'special' but whos arguing). I'm getting over it though.

Brodda dropped a Pattern Guisarm (+2) which I use for a swap when I need FA but I need to cover this soon as well as I want to avoid a stupid death with Redleaf.

Was just whizzing through Arena opponents to get to the ? of Acquirement whilst I was wielding Seven Tools and I took on the Basilisk without realising that I don't have FA....... First round hit him twice and took a huge chunk out of him but he paralyzed me on his turn and that was that......

Whats really annoying is that a Ranger is one of the few classes who has a chance of going through the Arena undefeated.

If it wasn't for the Randart Cutlass I'd suicide him and start again. Yes I'm that anal.....

I followed through on my threat. Redleaf annoyed me by missing not one but two vaults @chlvl 27. He couldn't handle either one and he missed items like Hammerhand, Himring, Cambeleg etc. That coupled with his early stupid exit to the Basilisk in the Arena spelt his end. I suicided him.

Will get back to a ranger at some point and hopefully he won't be so annoying. On paper they look good but he just didn't seem to have that extra punch. Probably wasn't patient enough with him. Ranger is probably pretty powerful and versatile once levelled up.

Might start a Barbarian Samurai. Sounds interesting. Berserking will probably prove to be a handy source of cheap healing for the class.

I didn't dump the suicide for Redleaf. Too annoyed.

Generally, if I see a large OOD monster, I take stairs down and see what artifacts are involved, and come up if I feel they're too good to miss (because, honestly, you don't want to fight against Dracoliches and GWoVenoms at dlvl 25ish just for something stupid like Orcrist or Glass Slippers or Yeduson..)
