Klackon for extra speed and high HD, Nature for healing, and Chaos for damage. We'll see if this works. I'm guessing the mid-game will be where the difficulty lies. (Actually, it's always the mid-game that's tricky.. be it Sexy or Mage or Nightmare mode.)

I'm happy with the weapon, but I have to say the BM was pretty sub-par this game for other slots (Crown of Lordliness was a drop in Tower). Not even a pair of Gloves of agility stocked over the course of 4 weeks! Tsk, tsk.

Holy smokes! Grendel was really, really tough! After a few direct approaches failed, I had to arrange so that Grendel got stuck behind one of his ogre cohorts in an alley, where I would Fist of Force Grendel to death from 2 squares away. I have a new favorite mid-level spell! Doom Bolt, a mana beam of 17d8 ~ 76.5 damage for a mere 16 SP cost. It always beams, so it was great for taking out rows of Warriors of the Dawn in an alley.

Starting to get back into the Mage-mode of play. Definitely can't brute force everything like I did with Rangers and Warriors and Monks, but if I play carefully, nothing can take me down either at my current depth.

Just picked up WoD, and it's sitting at 43% fail. It'll be another 10 levels or so before that becomes a reliable panic button.

Just about ready to go mutation scumming in the Vapor Quest. Unfortunately, I'm a bit low on cash, which is bad for purging mutations. Eh, what the hell. I'll do Barney first, and then Vapor Quest.

I can take down Ancient dragons, but Great wyrms are way out of my league. Sexy isn't very amenable to skimming Dragon Lair, either. Damn, I think I should have farmed Quartz Veins for another 2-3 million before stopping.

Still barely alive. Had to exploit AI to fight Baphomet: there was a fortuitous deep water river that ran through the level, so I stood on the other side and nuked him with Mana Bursts. Still, he could Mana Bolt and breath Force, so I had step out of LoS to heal a whole bunch of times. Consumed 2 !oSpeed, 1 !oHealing, and a Rod of Disarm (blew up from eating).

He took me down to 5 HP at one point by double-move Mana Bolt and Breath Force on me. That made me quaff the 1 !oHealing I had with me. Managed to kill him after much effort, and the take definitely wasn't worth it (just an Amulet of Resistance with no RPois and no high resistance).

I shudder at the thought of Cloning Pits.
