Duel with a newt A newly created High-Elf Loremaster wanders north of Bree and duels a newt, but has not hit the newt after several attempts. A Loremaster does not start with a good method (such as Manathrust) to kill the easiest monsters. I cannot spend any skill points, because I have leveled. Thus, I must purse this duel with what I have: Weaponmastery 2.000 Archery 3.500 Bare-handed combat 1.000 Summoning 0.000 Possession 0.000 Symbiosis 0.000 Mimicry 0.000 I will have to use a melee weapon or shooting weapon. I already bought a lantern, a shovel, and some armor with most of my gold, but I do have the equipment from my starting inventory: a Quarterstaff (1d9) (+0,+0) a Sling (x2) (+0,+0) 12 Rounded Pebbles (1d2) (+0,+0) I want to save my pebbles for the dungeon, thus my best option is the Quarterstaff. However, I have 100% failed to hit the newt. I run away in circles, regenerating my hit points several times. A newt is somewhat stronger than some of the other early monsters, thus I may hope to find something easier to kill. Actually, constantly switching tactics all the time is what eventually put me off ToME, as there is no way to change them from the main screen.
