No FA, SI of any of that stuff yet. Heck, he just found his rod of illumination a level or two ago. Jeeez.

I made it through the wall but the way way was blocked many ogres of some sort. There were too many to kill in melee so I put my trust in the wand of wonder. It had already functioned admirably twice in this vault already. The results were mediocre. By the time the charges were all gone, it killed two or three ogres, but there were many more and I was running dangerously low on CCW.

I made the decision to try to 'shift' toward the good loot, but it took me outside the vault as I suspected it might. Reentering at this point would be suicide so I, with a heavy heart, walked away from that vault and found a staircase leading deeper. DL 32 greeted me with an up staircase and Jenny Greenteeth. I seem to recall that she was a summoner and so, with my pack full and resources low, I abandoned the entire level and took the path back to town.
