Not being able to replace runes already cast on an item with different runes is an interesting mechanic and forces really hard choices -- not sure if I like it. I'd rather be able to swap runes around. But then people would hotswap in combat. Maybe place a # of turns delay?

Anyway, I got lucky finding Falis early. How exactly does Force Brand work via Rune of Destruction? It seems like a candidate but I don't understand the force damage bonus since I rarely play a melee class which has mana. Something like 3x damage dice, multiplicative on other slays? Does it work with +to-dam?

Anyway, this character got lucky at the start with Maggot dropping a Trump brand weapon -- instant clvl 19, then took a huge risk jumping into the first GCV he found at angband dlvl1 with no source of tele away. Fortunately I survived long enough to get into the clvl 30s, then it's been fairly smooth sailing. I need to make some more gold, then will find a chaos vortex to breathe mutations onto me.

ps the Rune of Regen is quite nice! If it were buffed a bit further I'd even use it over the clvl 45/50 armor runes. But right now I have too many stats/resist problems.

potions of (stat) seem really rare in cheng. Where is the best place to farm them? I'm clvl 49 but my stats suck because I've only drank like two potions. The rest of the stats came from leveling up con/dex.

Stat potions are 33% more common in Cheng than Heng/Entro, not counting that DROP_GOOD monsters also now drop stat potions. The problem is that they are native to L30, so you need to either go deeper, or kill deeper monsters. To find them on L1 you need to kill L60 monsters, since drops average the monster level and the dungeon level. If you move to the Castle you will probably have better luck finding potions as drops.

Found Stormbringer and Bloodrip, but am unsure if jiggling around gear would produce something better than my current setup. I have Isildur but am hesitant to pick a Rune for it, so wearing the mega +str/con armor with res_chaos and res_nexus for now. It lets me wear the telep helm.

Let fumes breathe on me for a ton of mutations in that quest, but had to remove them all as there were two very bad mutations which were the last two to be removed, argh. Looking for a chaos vortex now.

How would you proceed with this char if you were in my shoes?
