Showing off the TOME 2.3.5-SX variant, which among other things makes Fumblefingers quests more useful. They now appear more often (50% chance instead of 25%), can grant a wider variety of skills and will always increase a skill's modifier by at least 0.05. That's why this archer has the Earth and Summoning skills, plus a higher than usual modifier on his Bow skill. Dunno why it always says "you have completed (null) lost sword quests" though.

About the ignoble death; well, I had 20 Skeleton orcs on this dungeon level due to the fumblefingers quest, and was also ambushed by a random group of snotlings and orcs. There weren't enough teleportation and phase door scrolls in my inventory to save me, so I eventually got cornered and a wimpy novice warrior (level 2) took off my last hit point. RIP. :(
