Has been a while since I played any flavor of Angband, especially with a regular start. Latest versions of Steam intrigued me, and with Wonderland mode brokenish, I went for a regular start (which I haven't done for a long long time). Was slow going at first, with one or two close calls thanks to my sillyness ;p

Trying something different with this character (unarmed ninja?!), and it's working out fairly well. More to follow, if I don't make a stupid mistake ;p

Well, here we go. That was quite a fun romp, though finding the cloak pretty much settled the game. Permanent invisibility is extremely nice to have :)

Congradulations.

I've tried a few times to get barehand rogues off the ground, but with pretty much zero success. Does barehand combat get more effective eventually? I'm working on a gentleman barehand/spellcaster for fun and, well, its not really very much fun so far.

So much for my hope of making Yuri the first 0.3.8 winner or even the first character to level 50 :). Well, maybe I can be 2nd on both unless someone beats me to it.

So, are you going to kill those steam drills on level -1?

Hehe, that would be a bit hard to do, seeing as there are no up stairs on d1 :(

Only thing I messed up on was when the guild offered me a special quest, I pressed c by habit, and it never popped back up again :( Wonder what it was...

Yeah, I thought it was funny that the guild could give you a quest for a level that you can't actually get to it.

You were never given another 'special' quest the whole game? How many quests did you sign up for during the game?

Yuri is up to about level 12 now, and he just completed his 6th or so special quest of the game. I'd guess that he's taken on maybe 26 quests so far (20 on difficult and 6 on special) and he's successfully completed about 23 of them. The 3 or 4 failures were all in the low 30s to mid 20s and involved difficult (for that level) monsters with big escorts. And all were 'difficult' level quests.

The special quests are all the same. A vault somewhere on the level has a jeweled box. You have to go to the vault, get the box, and bring it back to the guild. If you succeed, the reward appears to be the same as for difficult quests. To me, the guaranteed presence of the vault is the real reward.
