After a few false starts with L1 quests (wolves, a warg, Ufthak,...) started with 900 gold and bought a wand of wonder, which was great against the dragons. Stone golems were easy, but slow. Will probably take a special quest next, then stop quests at least until I get to Aranea.

Light-weight critters with no distance attacks are pathetic against spiders.

You can kill these guys with essentially zero damage, no hack-n-back necessary. Spiders just chow down on orcs & low-level unique 'p'.
