I buy !rPois whenever I see it. Other defensive stuff- I feel like I'm carrying around a lot- ?phase, ?tlevel, _speed, _tele, _tother.

I know I can go deeper (with care), but I've found a lot of excellent/superb levels that have made the going slower.

Definitely arvedui over GDSM. blindness isn't such a big deal if you have telepathy and !CCW. From your inventory, ditch the extra weapons, -light, _stinking cloud, and -curing. Also, the goal is to kill morgoth, so keep things you will use for the final fight in your home e.g. ?banish. I tend to carry just a few of the consumables I rarely use (!rPois, ?Tel level) and leave the rest at home.

Also, gold is cheap and resting can be dangerous, so carry _identify and don't bother casting the spell. You can try to recharge it for less mana than casting identify as well. Good luck.
