I've never gotten a Swordmaster done, so maybe Polearmmasters would do me better?

Tulkas quest was tough but I completed it! Well, I recovered the first piece of the relic anyway.

On to the Orc Caves, I suppose.

Fighting in the caves so far got me great stuff and a second Tulkas quest. One look inside led me to flee instantly. Those are just tough!

Ooh! SM reference name, eh? Good idea! I think I'll rename my monk to "Ranma," and my archer to "Rei"

Nah, just use Glaive of Pain. Or read SoArtifact Creation on a normal glaive and name it "Silence Glaive"

I don't like characters with poor saving throws.

Eh... As a word of advice, Don't pump Combat too much. Check out the skill spoiler page on KillerBunnies. It's much more wisely invested in something else.

Ha ha, a breakthrough! Mid Barrow-downs finds of the Extra Might bow and Hurin sure did help, as did the late Mirkwood creation of those artifact Seeker Arrows.

Currently inching down Sacred Land of Mountains.

Note that I'm using 2.2.4(CVS) so that I can use the new feature: Just as inscribing #of Foo will make an item describe as the Item of Foo, now inscribing an item with %Silence will make it show as a Silence Item.

Yes, I added this non-gameplay feature to ToME 2.2.4 just to prepare for the Silence Glaive of Pain. :-)

Going strong now.. Found Ringil in LoM. I was disappointed until I found the Glaive of Pain on the same level. That was great... first time with a Polearmmaster. I got panicky making sure I picked it up and recalled out.

That really helped things, but I *still* coudln't wear the speed ring because of my lack of SI, until just now in a Mordor quest for Lesser Balrogs I got Elendil.

Reflection, flying, antimagic, fire immunity, big resists, max con, 11 wonderful blows with a Glaive that is levelling beautifully (vampirism, slay animal, fire brand, huge damage bonus, just need acid brand for perfection). Having never won a warrior I won't say this character is guaranteed now, but I feel like it's getting close.

Bad luck, I call it... But special levels are horrible any way you slice them.

Few solutions for big summoners on those levels, especially for Warriors. Closest I've found is a Wand of Stone Prison--use it to hide from monsters, then wait for them to come close and tunnel your way out.

I forgot to save the character dump when I died, so I had to load it in wizard mode to get this.

You're right on Stone Prison being good, but until we get drain-resistant sticks such a wand won't last long.
