This is my current Half-Troll Warrior character, from Angband 2.9.6 alpha 4 (on my desktop I call it 296d), with a couple of bugfixes.

Points of interest include:

- His dexterity is so low that he has serious difficulty getting to multiple attacks per round, having to wield a main gauche to get as many as 3. Not good for a warrior, since that's no improvement on the *start* of the game...

- I really didn't want him as deep as 2000' without poison resistance, but he's fallen through five successive trapdoors while trying to disarm them. *sigh...*

- The only stat potions I've found in the dungeon at all are intelligence and charisma, plus one of strength. Everything else in the way of stat potions has been bought from the BM, hence the cash shortage.

- Dexterity was originally higher but got swapped with int by a nexus hound.

- But he's been seriously lucky with speed equipment, with one ring and a pair of boots for +14... and killed his first Nazgul (Akhorakil - my "improved" version for my most recent patch, that made it into 294 and later versions) and Ancient Dragon (green) recently (in a vault), only to be chased off the level by Medusa the Gorgon when out of healing and speed potions before being able to explore the vault.

- Normally I wouldn't mind being this deep with this few hps, but with such a lousy attack (3 attacks per round at 3d5+10 is nothing when you have no spells and your crossbow bolts keep missing thanks to your low dex)... it's going to be interesting trying to keep this one going. Let's hope not to meet any AMHDs, Drolems or post-2000' uniques for a while yet...

whoa there... I thought half-troll warrior was actually a popular combo! didn't think I'd be the highest on the ladder...

Another character level or two. Mim is dead, and dropped jack shit. Still more stat potions in the BM than in the dungeon.

Got a bit further through stat gain now. Recently killed his first AMHD - without poison resistance being available. Thank gods for the early speed items...

Bought a ring of poison resist from the BM. Found another one lying three squares away from where I landed in the dungeon. Typical.

Then I cleared a Greater Vault, containing no really nasty monsters apart from Ren the Unclean and a pack of time hounds. Found five artifacts, most notably Theoden, Totila and the Star of Elendil. Life is looking good...

He's just cleared a greater vault at 2450'. The artifacts are beginning to really show up now. Saruman was in the vault, as was Eol the Dark Elf and a Great Ice Wyrm. And three AMHDs. And lots of loot. Loads of lovely loot...

Down at 3000' now. Teleportation (of self and monsters) is becoming a serious issue. Namely, the combustibility and drainability of staves of teleportation, and the lack of scrolls of teleportation outside of the BM, and the inability to zap wands and rods of teleport other. I also got seriously pissed off recently by Gabriel's summoning his minions at me in the middle of a room, and being hit by five mana bolts at once... But he's still going, having just survived a tough fight with Uvatha, Fundin, Baphomet, a Great Storm Wyrm and a Demilich, thanks to the fact that Baphomet does not resist frost...

Yeah i know what you've been through :) see my troll on ladder which unfortunately died due to boredom and not staying alert :(. Didnt post death dump though ... now playing the usual high-elf again and doing great.

Well, teleportation is still in short supply, but a far worse lack is the innate Half-Troll shortage of dexterity. I would really prefer to be wielding Crisdurian but only get 4 attacks with it, as opposed to 6 with Anduril thanks to its dex bonus... Mind you, Gabriel and Uriel are both dead now, Gabriel turned up in a convenient position to pillar-dance with only a small escort. Other than him, I've also killed Hoarmurath of Dir - a Nazgul who I begin to think ought to have his speed increased to +20 instead of +10...

One more update, I've just reached 4000' and cleared *another* vault. Yet more good weapons (Zarcuthra for example), and not enough dex to use them without losing an attack...

...And another update. Carcharoth, Lungorthin, Ancalagon and company all gone. Some good artifacts at last. And only *now* do I discover that I could never have got the full 6 blows with Crisdurian or Zarcuthra anyway. *sigh...* Haven't decided what combination of equipment to use yet, right now I'm in town. Would like more Rune of Protection scrolls before taking on Morgy (not for sea of runes, but for standing on while meleeing him) but otherwise things are looking up...

YAY! My first ever vanilla warrior winner. And he took down Morgoth in straight melee... despite the fact that Morgoth appears to now ignore Runes of Protection that the player is standing on (is this a bug?) Hell, I might as well have not bothered collecting those scrolls, for all the good they did me. But it's a winner, nevertheless. I need a beer...
