not having too much trouble missing the base 4 it's more problems missing poison resist. ths stacked rods and staffs are "dungeon bashing" gear I've been bouncing between 1600 - 1800 ft looking for stat potions (seem to be having a run of chr for some pathetic reason!)
Have been having trouble keeping up with arrows but don't like scumming town to get them.
Any comments on gear would be great - what should the *ID* go on? They have been few & far between.

No, Bard doesn't give extra shots- that's Belthronding. But Bard is +2 to might, so it's more than a heavy x-bow. Bard also has high plusses and some very useful side effects. You should think about enchanting some ammo up- with +9 ammo it would do quite a bit of damage, and you have the gold. With that branded ammo, enchanted to +9, it will do a lot of damage to non-resistant creatures- more than you do in melee right now.

It's hard to comment too much on your equipment with so many unidentified ego items. Why haven't you identified your boots, cap, etc? Did your memory get wiped?

I have just fought someone who wiped my memory - I think I should avoid meleeing with beholders :) - but I have *ID*'d everything that matters ( I thought!)

I have tried (unsuccessfully it seems!) to comment each of the items - ie the =oDam are +13, +11 respectively...

the shield is RAcid
the cloak is stealth (hence the comment!)
the boots are feather falling (YAY! but the best on offer)

You should find out what the high resist on the elvenkind is as soon as you can. I think you can safely dump the armor of resistance- hard to imagine preferring it to Arvedui and the Elvenkind. If you could wear Thalkettoth you would get more blows, and a bit of speed- what you need now is dex (con too), and that would be nice with Bard as well. But RBase is starting to get important where you are, and I don't see how else you would get resist lightning, so... be on the lookout for elvenkind or resistance shields.

Actually, if you got 5 blows with the Defender wearing Thalkettoth I think that would be your best setup damage-wise, but it's pretty heavy... check. You would have to be careful about nexus though. Your stats are still too low to risk scrambling. Boots of stability should show up soon.

You should be carrying !CCW, not !CSW. You've got RConf, which helps, but there's no reason to carry !CSW this late in the game. Buy out !CCW on every trip to town.
